Our Story
It started with a shovel.
In 1946, Wehrung's wasn't a hardware store. It was an excavating company. A family that knew the land in Bucks County better than most, and worked harder than the rest. When neighbors needed a foundation dug, a driveway graded, or a ditch cleared, they called Woody Wehrung.
The Wehrung’s family opened its flagship Lumber & Home Center in 1986 as a retail center and drive through lumber and millwork supplier. Improvements and renovations are made easy with the help of our knowledgeable and experienced staff. Our Kitchen Design, Contractor Corner, Paint & Flooring Departments are just a few of the areas that provide our customers with the best service and products possible.
Today, Wehrung's spans 4 locations across Bucks, Lehigh and Montgomery County. We carry everything from screws to siding, from kitchen cabinets to custom-cut lumber. Our family has grown - children, then grandchildren, now great-grandchildren - and so has our team. But the heart of the business hasn't moved an inch. Still the same family.

Woodrow and Blanche Wehrung start W. Wehrung Excavating with five employees,
digging farm ponds across Bucks County.

A Butler building goes up at the old Quonset site and the Contractor's Supply Store opens, the family's first retail counter.

Vernon and Jean Wehrung relocate and reopen the store as Wehrung's Family Home Center, 20 departments under one roof.

Wehrung's acquires Chalfont Hardware, a community staple since 1958, and rebuilds it after a 2016 fire.

Fanaro Bros, a Collegeville hardware landmark since 1955, joins the Wehrung's family of stores.

Dries Building Supply in Macungie, serving the Lehigh Valley since 1957, becomes Wehrung's fourth store.
