Role Summary

The Retail Sales Associate is responsible for providing outstanding customer service and product expertise to customers in a hardware retail environment. This role assists customers with product selection, maintains inventory and merchandise displays, processes transactions, and helps ensure the store is clean, organized, and fully stocked. The ideal candidate is reliable, customer-focused, and knowledgeable about hardware products and home improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly, and professional service.
• Assist customers in locating products and selecting appropriate tools, hardware, building materials, plumbing, electrical supplies, paint, and related merchandise.
• Answer customer questions and recommend solutions for home repair, maintenance, and improvement projects.
• Operate cash registers and accurately process sales transactions, returns, and exchanges.
• Stock shelves and displays, ensuring merchandise is properly organized and priced.
• Monitor inventory levels and report low-stock items to management.
• Receive and unpack shipments, verify product quantities, and store merchandise appropriately.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized sales floors, aisles, and storage areas.
• Ensure promotional displays and signage are accurate and attractive.
• Assist customers with loading heavy or bulky purchases when needed.
• Follow company policies regarding safety, security, and loss prevention.
• Participate in inventory counts and store-wide merchandising projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous retail sales or customer service experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hardware, tools, construction materials, plumbing, electrical, or paint products is a plus.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer and cash-handling skills.
• Ability to learn and retain product knowledge.
• Learn the process to fill propane tanks.
• Forklift experience preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move merchandise up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and stocking activities.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.
